  • Abstract
With an annual growth rate of about 40%, wireless local mobile communication is the fastest growing sector of the telecommunication industry. First implemented for cordless cellular phones, wireless communications are now entering the data communication world and recently a number of wireless local area networks (WLAN) have become available on the market like ALTAIR (Motorola), WAVELAN (NCR) at radiowave frequencies or INFRALAN (BICC) at infrared frequencies. In this paper, a local system architecture for indoor radio communications working in the 60 GHz frequency band is proposed. The main features of a new access protocol, called Cell Reserved Multiple Access (CRMA), are pointed out
