Abstract :
This paper introduces a methodology to determine the spectrum utilization over a given frequency range, in a specified geographical area. The spectrum utilization is examined for land mobile radio systems which provides a measure of the amount of spectral coverage in a given area as a percentage of the total possible coverage for a given band of frequencies. The Canadian land mobile bands considered include both the VHF band of 138-174 MHz and the UHF bands of406-430 and 450-470 MHz
