  • Abstract
The author examines the available information communication tools to help white-collar workers be more efficient and advocates a computer-based integration and control of ingoing and outgoing information over telephone or private data communication lines, i.e. the intelligent desk. It is suggested that paper avoidance will depend mainly on the level of cooperation and confidence in the corporate structure. In a company where managers have no confidence in one another, the technologies will only produce more paper to support each individual´s opinion.<>
