Abstract :
This paper presents a wideband integrated low-noise amplifier (LNA) and mixer in standard 0.13 μm CMOS technology for cognitive radio based wireless communication. In the LNA stage, an inductive source degeneration and resistive feedback techniques with LC load are adopted to achieve low noise figure and wideband input matching over the desired bandwidth. The mixer stage utilizes an inductive peaking technique to compensate gain roll-off at high frequency while extending the bandwidth. This LNA-mixer exhibits a high and flat conversion gain (CG) of 22.0 ± 0.6 dB and a noise figure (NF) from -5.6 to 6.3 dB over the desired frequency ranging from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. The input 1-dB compression point (P1dB) and input referred third-order intercept point (IIP3) are -20.3 dBm and -11.0 dBm, respectively. The overall LNA-mixer integration dissipates 9.0 mW power from a supply headroom of 1.0 V.
