Abstract
The authors examine the problems encountered by IBM´s Vienna Software Development Laboratory in responding to the requirement that software products be simultaneously available in European and United States markets. They also discuss the logistic and economic factors that contribute to the problems and present strategies for addressing them. Attention is given to the dual-location and one-location solutions and to the search for a high-tech solution.<>
