Abstract
Facsimile equipment (fax) has come into wide use for business and also for personal use recently. The total power consumption of these machines has become huge. As the fax is a communication equipment that can receive and transmit documents whilst unattended, then this equipment must be ready to receive documents at any time. The actual operation time of a prevailing business fax is short-about 99% is standby. Thus the effect of saving power consumption during the standby-state is very large. The RICOH MY310E (Rifax BL110: Japanese model) is a multi-functional machine with fax and copier functions using a laser printing method. This machine has achieved the minimization of power consumption during its standby state (1.4 W) and has taken the initiative in energy saving
