Abstract :
Growing out of its current academic and research environments, grid computing is expected to expand to internet dimensions and reach out to common users. An intensive activity to develop open process standards for management and resource sharing models is in progress. To make grids widely acceptable to virtual organizations being communities of varying interests, we propose an architecture that will help to provide stronger security infrastructure by introducing grid enhanced operating system (GridOS). The concept provides for establishment of registration centers, known as global registration centers (GRC) augmented with GIS, along with a universally usable OS kernel to regulate the grid computing activities. The design of grid enhanced operating system with restrictive configurability, GIS based registration for security and accessibility will be able to address some of the security concerns in Grid computing. GridOS will have well defined system level architecture to provide guaranteed services meeting the confidence level required by end users and service providers.
