Abstract
The statistics of the depolarizer composed with cascaded single-mode fiber rings is investigated theoretically and experimentally. With the number of fiber rings increasing, it is found that the probability of DOP (degree of polarization) less than 0.01 will increase largely with arbitrary polarization conditions of the input light and fiber rings. Meanwhile, experimental results show its potential in reducing the polarization noise in polarization-sensitive optic fiber systems.
