Abstract
MPLS is the industrypsilas choice for integrating diverse services over the high speed optical network. In case of failures in the physical infrastructure, protection schemes help route the traffic away from the failure site for minimizing the effect on services. In this paper, we present an overview of the latest protection schemes as proposed for MPLS domains. We identify the important issues and present case studies of installing protection mechanisms.
