  • Abstract
Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) has emerged as the most promising technology to increase available capacity in future optical core networks. Among the all-optical network architectures considered in recent literature, OPS and OBS are viewed as the most promising, at least in the long run. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic preemptive (PP) scheme for service differentiation in optical packet switching (OPS) networks. By changing the preemptive probability, the blocking probability in nonblocking optical packet switch and non-wavelength converters with ON/OFF input traffic model are evaluated. The accuracy of the analytical formula is confirmed through various simulation scenarios. The useful results are obtained.
