Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. The paper presents a wideband payload architecture, discusses its advantages and draws comparison with the conventional channelized transponders architectures. Major requirements and challenges for the needed power amplifiers are outlined. The approach reduces the amount and complexity of the payload RF hardware, enhances the frequency spectrum utilization efficiency, and enables services that require wider bandwidths, with little or no impact on the ground equipment infrastructure.
