  • Abstract
Today´s development of technical products that are fit for the market is characterised by the necessity to take the complete life cycle of a product into consideration at an early stage in decision-making processes. This information on the product life cycle and corresponding support mechanisms must be supplied accompanying the developmental stage but also for planning disassembly/recycling processes. This paper presents two computer-aided methods REKON (recycling oriented design tool) and LICCOS (Life Cycle COSting Tool). REKON is based on the Eco-portfolio method and focuses on the life cycle oriented assessment of product alternatives. LICCOS is a process oriented life cycle costing methodology under consideration of cost targets. Both tools have been developed at the Institute of Machine Tools and Production Science in co-operation with industrial partners
