Comprehensive Performance Evaluation of the Listed Companies in Coal Mining Industry Based on Factor Analysis and Cluster Analysis

In the latter part of the international financial crisis, comprehensive performance of listed companies directly affect the confidence, investment risk and the rate of return of investors in the stock market. With the methodology of factor analysis and cluster analysis, this article selected 10 key financial indicators of listed companies as evaluation system, according to the actual situation of the industry and the principle of selecting indicators, and then made a comprehensive analysis based on 21 listed companies in the Coal mining industry of China to disclose all the data for the annual report in 2008.The research got the performance scores, ranking of listed companies and clustering view. The result reveals the relative competitive advantage of enterprises, and provides more objective support for decision makers. In addition, it assists investors to identify risks and increase return on investment.
