Abstract :
An efficient method is described for simultaneous amplitude and phase approximation of low-pass and bandpass filters. The two kinds of approximation are based on linear interpolation techniques and are carried out alternatively. When approximating digital (infinite-impulse-response) IIR filters, the phase distortion caused by the bilinear transformation is taken into consideration. The efficiency of the method is illustrated by the approximation of a seventh-order low-pass filter.<>
