Abstract :
This paper proposes a system to be used in wind turbine performance assessment and certification. It follows the procedures described in the IEC standards, regarding wind turbine power quality and wind power production. The system has two basic modules. The first, called remote unit, is located on a meteorological mast and encompasses environmental signal transducers and a wireless communication system. The second, the local unit, at the turbine connection point, comprises a digital signal processor (DSP), a MCU, a memory card, as well as voltage and current transducers. Both units operate synchronously to relate the environmental signals with electrical ones. The DSP is responsible for data processing and overall system management. Data stored in the memory card can be retrieved by the end of the test campaign, resulting in power quality and performance indexes for the wind turbine under test.
