Abstract :
Describes the development of a static state estimation digital computer program. Programming a state estimator using a hybrid Microsoft Visual Basic/Fortran programming technique allows ease in data entry and system definition while providing a powerful complex number computing capability. A static state estimator was developed and tested for several artificial networks. The base case power flow data was manually perturbed and entered as measurement data to the state estimator. After entering case data using a Visual Basic graphical user interface, the state estimation is performed through a Fortran module that, when compiled as a Windows DLL, is executed from within the Visual Basic program
