Abstract
In prior papers, the author has presented analytical methods for designing a minimal economic cost wireless system in areas of high spatial user density. This paper presents a case study of the application of those techniques to evaluate their usefulness in optimizing network cost in an existing system, using an actual city in the United States as the venue for the analysis. Existing network costs are computed using industry average cost data. Then, the portion of the city meeting the dense user population criterion is segregated based on reasonable assumptions. Finally, the minimal cost techniques and methods referenced above are applied to determine the impact they have on the network costs. It is demonstrated that meaningful cost reduction is possible by using the referenced models, even when the system does not exhibit the ideal topology under which they were developed
