Abstract
We consider some peculiarities in the application of the Fourier transform method to solving the problems of electromagnetic wave diffraction on dielectric bodies bounded by coordinate lines or surfaces. The Fourier transformation in the problems of electromagnetics is usually called the Jones method. We only discuss the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation with a real piecewise constant coefficient
