Abstract :
With the increase of competition in the electric utility industry, it is essential to quantify the amount of power that can be transmitted between different locations through a transmission network. The computation of transfer capability is useful both for planning and operation of power systems. This paper presents a simple, direct method for transfer capability evaluation using a nonlinear optimization technique. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated using the IEEE reliability test systems.
