  • Abstract
    The increasing use of real-time applications over IP networks will require better use of available resources to meet the stringent requirements of real-time applications, especially over the wireless links. When performing data link/network layer scheduling, priorities of different real-time packets can be differentiated by exploiting the information available from a higher layer of the protocol stack (RTP/RTCP). Utilizing the fast power control feature available in CDMA-based wireless networks, a packet scheduling algorithm for real-time traffic over an IP-based cellular network was designed and evaluated. By utilizing the channel state and deadline information, much improved performance in transport of real-time traffic was achieved
