Abstract :
A prerequisite for reliable telecommunication and internet services is a dependable power supply. In areas with poor electrical coverage, a common solution in the past has been to install a diesel generator. A better alternative is the low loss micro grid concept, whereby electricity is distributed from a strategic location, where power can be purchased or produced cost-effectively, to several other locations where it is more difficult to come by. To optimize micro grids of this type, new transformer technology and control algorithms for load prioritization have been introduced, further reducing internal electrical losses.
