  • Abstract
    This paper discusses some recent developments in fundamental implicit FDTD schemes. The formulations of fundamental ADI-FDTD and LOD-FDTD are presented. The simplicity and similarity aspects of the fundamental updating structures are highlighted. The graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerated fundamental ADI-FDTD (FADI-FDTD) is presented to further enhance the efficiency by exploiting data parellelism. Apart from electromagnetic simulation, the potential development of FADI scheme for transient thermal simulation are demonstrated.
