Abstract :
While the need for a more globally-aware workforce is apparent, how to achieve that goal is not. We introduce a novel solution, the joint international master´s in computer science program, in which students take courses at two of three partner institutions in United States, Germany, and Australia. In contrast to a traditional study abroad program, the coursework in this program consists largely of technical material within the discipline. It also includes international projects. The result is a unique experience in which students work directly with faculty and students from multiple countries. This gives them both a broader perspective on the discipline and a deeper respect for graduates from other educational systems. This paper describes the major features of the program, discusses various challenges that had to be overcome, and presents some of the observed benefits.
