Abstract
This paper proposes a bandwidth allocation scheme where priority-based control is enhanced for call acceptance and bandwidth allocation among multimedia component calls. The bandwidth allocation schemes previously proposed by the authors perform the elimination of component calls and the deferment of bandwidth allocation to them according to their quality-of-services (QoSs) and importance for communications. The proposed scheme in this paper further keeps a certain amount of the bandwidth reserved for indispensable component calls for communications. By computer simulation, we evaluate the performance such as call dropping probability when a handoff occurs and show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme
