  • Abstract
With regard to increase of energy consumption, utilization of renewable energies would be more appearing. Among the renewable energies, wind energy has important part to play. Wind energy is considered to be one of the cleanest and cheapest renewable energy. Nowadays wind turbine technologies is being improved very rapidly and it is expected that in near future, at low wind speed the turbines work efficiently. In this paper wind energy potential for Murchehkhort area of Isfahan province was studied to see its suitability for a wind farm. With regard to the annual wind date for the mentioned area, the potential energy was calculated to be 98.69 W/m2. To calculate the wind energy potentials in an area, the wind velocity available was tabulated using this, the data it is possible; by mathematical method two important parameters; shape (k) and scale (c) is obtained where in this case the value for shape and scale was obtained to be; k=1.55 and c=4.71 m/s. With regard to the results, the mentioned site is classified as wind velocity of classes I&II. There for it is concluded this site for the small wind turbines, less than 100 kW is suitable.
