Abstract :
With the popularization and development of vehicles, smart handheld devices and Internet technologies, vehicles and the passengers travelling on the highway need to download large data files, such as music and video. But on the highway, the network, which intermittently connected to the Internet, can not meet people´s requirements. In this paper, we proposes a novel method to access to the internet by means of roadside Access Points (APs) as well as assists of the passing-by vehicles. When a requested vehicle goes into the dark area, the requested vehicle broadcasts a request to establish a communication group. If there is a vehicle in the AP communication range, the requested vehicle can download data by the communication group. Otherwise, the adjacent AP selects a group of the reverse cooperative vehicles, and the cooperative vehicles carry a certain amount of packets. When they encounter with communications group in the dark area, they transmit the data to the vehicles of communication group. Then the vehicles of communication group transmit data to the requested vehicle. Through a large number of experiments, we find that our model can improve the throughput.
