  • Abstract
The ad hoc backup node setup routing protocol (ABRP) is proposed to focus attention on the intrinsic properties of the ad hoc wireless networks. It more completely considers the quality of routing than the routing protocols proposed in the past. According to the proposed ABRP, many routes can be found to reach a destination in a given period. Those routes, almost more than one, from the source node to the destination node can be analyzed to obtain some good backup routes to support reconnection when a link fails. The backup route information can be saved in a specific on-the-route node. These backup routes can be rapidly found in situations involving disconnection or loss of connection. Furthermore, ABRP provides a backup node mechanism that reconnects quickly as required for ad hoc wireless networks.
