Abstract :
This paper analyzes resolution for synthetic aperture radar data spanning a wide angular aperture. Traditional SAR imaging resolution analysis is based on the assumption of rectangular or near-rectangular support region, which fails in the wide angle SAR imaging case. Based on the point spread function of two-dimension radar imaging system, we deduce formulas to calculate the -4dB mainlobe resolutions for cross-range and range by approximations. Simulation results demonstrate that the formulas fit well with the numerically calculated value, whether the synthesized aperture is wide or narrow.
