Abstract
Despite their potential and promising advantages over classical planar arrays, conformal arrays also present many new challenges to the antenna designer, the most conspicuous of which are varying element normal due to curvature and serious cross-polarization effect. In this paper, a uniform method for the element polarized pattern transformation of arbitrary 3 D conformal array is presented based on Euler rotation. Polarization diversity is then used to achieve pattern synthesis of conformal antenna with low cross-polarization. The optimal weight vector is obtained with alternating projection method. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and behavior of the proposed method.
