Abstract
This work introduces a method for measuring the location and size of knots in veneer surface by using laser point scanning. Scattering patterns formed by laser spots are analyzed and image processing methods are employed in order to measure the amount and direction of scattering at each measurement point. Three different algorithms are used to detect knots based on these data.
