Abstract :
Digital post-production facilities and artists require sophisticated tools to create original and unique images and effects with accuracy and control. These tasks include complex multi-layer composites, stabilization and tracking of large volumes of footage, keying of imagery containing challenging elements such as shadows and transparent objects, and full-resolution online editing. Open software-based systems bring a new technology to the market that can be updated and enhanced quickly based on user feedback. Software designers create advanced functions, and combinations of functions that were previously inconceivable in hardware-based systems. This results in feature-rich systems that offer multiple creative and technical approaches to a variety of project types. In this environment, artists can create unique visual effects, distinct from imagery created by other artists, even those using the same set of tools
