Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel algorithm for efficiency optimization control of induction motor (IM) drives. The algorithm uses the “golden section technique” in the process searching the optimal value of rotor flux current reference, for which the electrical input power of the system is minimal. The search algorithm is very fast and does not require a priori the number of functional evaluations. In addition, it does not require the knowledge of speed and torque In the searching process, and is insensible to motor parameter variations. The proposed scheme has been implemented on a laboratory experimental 2.2 kW IM drive using a 32-bit floating-point DSP (TMS320C32) board. Simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed method, which can be seen as a promising control technique that makes IM suitable for electric vehicles (EV) applications
