  • Abstract
The significant propagation factors affecting the link availability and channel capacity of broadband fixed wireless access (BFWA) systems operating at 30 GHz frequencies is rain attenuation and interference. Adaptive coded modulation (ACM) technique is methods to increase the link availability and channel capacity for these systems. The aim of this paper is to present the performance evaluation of these systems. The result of simulation study by using the rain attenuation and interference compensation methods show that performance of the systems are guaranteed to have signal reception quality with maximum BER 10-6 in 2 km link length. The performance also shows that the link availability is 99.99% by using SD-ACM with the interference factor. The results also show that the interference factor cause the channel capacity 1.64 bps/Hz at 2 km link length. Different cell sizes of BFWA with and without site diversity are considered in this project for significant analyses and discussions. It is found that site diversity has high ability to improve the performance level of all BFWA service area especially under rainy conditions.
