Abstract :
Summary form only given, substantially as follows:- WaveViewTM was developed by Axys Environmental Systems to automatically decode the data transmitted from a TRIAXYSTM Directional Wave Buoy into ASCII files. This innovative software program processes, displays, and archives data received from the buoy via the TRIAXYSTM Digital Receiver. WaveViewTM runs on an lBM compatible PC with the English version of Windows* operating systems. WaveViewTM processes the data to reconstitute the wave spectra that have been calculated on the buoy using proprietary software developed for Axys by the Canadian Hydraulics Centre (CHC) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). WaveViewTM features nine pull-down menus which enable the user to easily read data from the buoy including: zero crossing statistics, spectral statistics, real time data, status, communications, history, deployment, settings and other buoy information. Wave conditions in the form of zero-crossing and spectral statistics as well as directional and nondirectional spectra are displayed in separate frames on the WaveViewTM main screen. The user can customize the zero-crossing and spectral statistics frames by choosing which statistics to display. The last 24 hours of the statistical data are shown in individual time series. Clicking on these time series and the power spectrum or the thumbnail graph enlarges them for easy viewing. Clicking on the three dimensional directiorial spectrum activates the TRIAXYSTM spectral wale viewer. Using this viewer, the directional spectrum is enlarged and can be viewed from any angle and direction. WaveViewTM automatically archives the data files transmitted from the TRIAXYSTM Directional Wave Buoy
