Abstract
A general synthesis method is proposed for the computation of quasioptical beamshapers. The method is based on the derivation of an analytical expmsion for the gradient to a predefined target functional. Using gradient information, a variable metric method for instance can be used to optimize the functional. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated in two examples; Fourier Gratings and a dual-offset configuration of reflectors are designed as quasioptical beamsplitters, respectively.
