Abstract
Display application often requires a procedure to control panel brightness and decrease the power consumption for different environmental condition. The most of digital power saving (DPS) techniques are applied to determine the flexibility of content adjustment. By the characteristics of display, global brightness usually presents the intensity of power consumption and DPS technique is requested to adjust image content for power saving. In this paper, we utilize luminance estimation and bilinear mapping process to implement DPS. The variance of local illumination and the flexibility of content adjustment exists an interrelation. From the simulation results, the proposed method can maintain more features than current methods and provide a scalability of power consumption for display application.
