Abstract
The frequent and marked fluctuation of the copper price has a great impact on the accuracy of the economic data selection of copper cables. In that case, the data need to be updated in time, but the conventional updating method is usually very complicated because of the difficulty of getting complete cost data of cables. For these reasons, a simplified updating method, which updates the data just according to the copper price and the initial data, is proposed in this paper. As a result, the cumbersome procedures of the conventional method could be avoided. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified and found to be accurate enough for the economic selection of copper cables.
