Abstract
This paper tackles the problem of image matting based on the color lines model with J-Linkage in use. We propose to employ the concept of J-Linkage to model the color lines, and simplify the user supervision process into merely selecting pixels that represent the main colors of the foreground. Hitherto, user supervision is broadly received as prerequisite in yielding ideal matting results, by adding commonly a trimap or several strokes. In our approach, the automatic matting process is performed with only the typical foreground pixels, which greatly facilitates the pre-processing operation. Essentially, this approach avoids the potential failures caused by coarse trimap classification and improper stroke scribbling. Experimental results demonstrate the robustness of our approach.
