Abstract
Recently, a new approximation of a layer surrounding the scatterer and not reflecting outgoing waves was proposed and employed for computing the scattering from convex conducting cylinders. Here this technique is applied to impedance structures. The layer consists of cells and placed on the scattering surface. Inside each cell, the field scattered is expended in terms of waves propagating from the cell sides except the outer one. The realizability and appropriateness of the construction are checked by solving the scattering from circular and rectangular impedance cylinders. The approach takes advantage of simplicity and provides sufficiently accurate results in wide range of frequencies.
