Abstract :
We address several aspects of high-rate convolutional codes. Some results from an exhaustive search for codes optimized with respect to their distance spectrum, and encoders optimized with respect to their input-output weight enumerating function are presented. An additive version of the dual-SISO algorithm suitable to decode such codes with limited complexity is described, together with simulation results for both stand-alone and concatenated codes showing the codes performance improvement.
