Abstract
The relations between microwave backscattering and surface roughness parameters have been investigated using multifrequency polarimetric SAR data collected with SIR-C/X-SAR on Montespertoli test site (Italy). Three bare soils specifically worked with different scales of random roughness have been taken into consideration to study the effect of soil roughness and to validate surface scattering models
