An application layer for using Firewire in industrial applications

Firewire can offer real-time communication services for industrial applications. However, Firewire lacks an industry-oriented application layer. This paper presents the services which may be used over Firewire, in order to make if compliant with the industrial applications needs. The mapping of these services on Firewire services is also described. This application layer gives the ability to easily and rapidly set up real-time communications in an industrial context
