Abstract :
This paper reviews the directional sensing techniques used in partial discharge measurements. A new technique to detect electric and magnetic fields of travelling partial discharges along a conductor is also discussed. The new technique has several advantages which are useful for on-line condition monitoring on generators, cables and GIS.
