MLM: A monitoring system for network QoS based on multi-level measurement

In recent years, lots of measurement methods have been proposed for measuring the network QoS. However those measurement methods are most concentrated in the IP layer or transport layer. In this paper, we propose a HTTP-based active measurement method which is used to find network QoS problems occurred in application layer. A system called MLM is implemented by utilizing our new measurement method and traditional measurement methods together, and the system also has capabilities of measurement results collection and measurement results analysis. The experimental data shows that our system works effectively.
