Abstract
Quake lake is a familiar aftermath of powerful earthquake, which is often created by landslide. Due to the rains after earthquake and the instability of landslide dam, Quake Lake is usually in risk of dam breaking and threatens people downstream. In this paper, we present a modeling of dam-break for the Tanjiashang Quake Lake formed by Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12 with the DAMBRK Dam-breach model. We simulate the forming and water-flow of dam-breach, and further analyze the overtopping discharge, the burst of the flood and the current downstream face of dam.
