Abstract
An improved core loss model of surface mount permanent magnet electric motor for electric vehicle application is proposed, which the loss coefficients are functions of frequencies. The core loss curve under a wide range of frequency between 100-1000 Hz and inductions from 0 to 1.5 T is obtained by means of experimental test. The calculated data are compared with the experimental result. Based on the proposed method, the loss distribution within a driving motor for electric vehicle under complex driving duty cycle is obtained.
