Abstract :
This paper deals with the design and analysis of a hybrid-excited linear synchronous motor (LSM) for magnetically levitated vehicles. On the basis of three-dimensional (3-D) finite-element analysis, this paper predicts levitation force and thrust characteristics according to design parameters such as airgap length, magnet size, and input current, etc. And then, a static force tester for LSM has been manufactured and tested. Finally, the test results are given to confirm the validity of the design and analysis scheme of hybrid-excited LSM .
