Abstract :
With the analysis of two typical edges which are frequently encountered in scale-space edge detection, we discuss the relationship between the minimum resolution of the digital image and the scale value to be used. The constraint for selection of the scale value in edge detection with respect to minimum resolution is derived. Concerning the requirement of multiscale image analysis through a searching strategy, we propose an approach for edge detection in scale space based on the wavelet decomposition using the first and second derivative of the Gaussian function as the wavelet
