Abstract :
A novel dual band coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed printed monopole antenna with operating X and C band applications are presented. The antenna consists of square patch radiator with a pair of vertical slots. In order to generate dual band characteristics, these vertical slots are placed side by side near the radiating patch, additional resonances are excited and hence much wider bandwidth can be produced. The simulated results presented dualband monopole antenna which offers a wide bandwidth with two operating bands, covering C band at 4.4 GHz and X band at 8.5 GHz. The size of the square patch antenna is 22 mm × 26 mm × 0.8 mm printed on RT/Duroid substrate with permittivity 2.33. The parametric studies and simulated radiation characteristics are presented. The proposed antenna is analyzed by CST Microwave studio based on finite integration technique (FIT) method and was effectively achieved return loss, VSWR, fine radiation pattern with reasonable gain across the operating bands.
