  • Abstract
This paper discusses the electromagnetic and fluid flow modeling of an EMS system that is capable of generating large magnitude stirring forces that are sinusoidally modulated at an arbitrarily low frequency. The system hardware is based on conventional, readily available EMS power supplies and stator/coil designs. The paper addresses the modeling of a multi-frequency em system, the coupling of the resultant Lorentz forces to an unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes (URANS) turbulence model with time dependent body forces, and the solution for the resultant turbulent flow.
